T. Elvin Wollbrink 85 of Quincy, formerly of Tioga, passed away May 16, 2024 after his
battle with cancer. This is basically the second time he died though. February 14, 2022 he
decided to shop for ice-cream and collapsed in the store. After store manager and EMT’s
revived him, he recalled seeing only darkness which prompted him to dig deeper into life
after death. He became a believer in Jesus, and we know he is with him now. Not everyone
gets that second chance.
Elvin was born November 16, 1938, in rural Hancock County and was the 5 th child of 6 to
Marvin and Louise Wollbrink. He married Sue (Dudley) Wollbrink Aug. 18, 1956 and they
spent 61 years together until her death in 2017. He was a tender caregiver to Sue for the
last years of her life and an incredible example of compassion and dedication.
As a young father Elvin worked hard, sometimes working more than one job to provide for
his growing family so his wife could stay home and raise their four children who in turn
learned by his example.
Being a jack of all trades helped him save several pennies fixing things around the house,
farm, and rental properties. His winnings at the “boat” also added to his funds that he was
willing to share with those in need of financial assistance.
Elvin left a legacy in his surviving children: Bryce (Donna Renoad), Brian (Lynda) & Lyle
(Chris), 6 grandchildren: Nicole Wofford, Jennifer (Kevin) Bolin, Ashley Harness, Crystal
(Matt) Clark, Dale Wollbrink, & Torie (Ryan) Perry, and 9 great grandchildren: Jaden
Harness, Alexis Wofford, Jacob & Savannah Bolin, Elliot, Garret, Scarlet, Bennet Clark, &
Reagan Wollbrink. He is also survived by 1 brother Meb (Judith) Wollbrink, a very dear
friend Velma Brackensick & a special little friend August who called him “Pa Pa”.
Throughout his 85 years he mourned the loss of his parents, wife, 4 siblings- Ronnie, Dale,
Leland & Leona (Onie) Crouch, daughter Lisa (Bobby) Ellis, and 2 grandchildren- Jenessa
and Carl.
The family wishes to extend many thanks to the Blessing Hospice team that professionally
and tenderly took care of Elvin during his last several months. What a blessing the staff and
volunteers have been and in lieu of flowers we would like to direct any memorials for Elvin
to this service for the many people they are still caring for.
